Web poker has become world acclaimed recently, with televised competitions and celebrity poker game shows. Its popularity, though, stretches back in fact a bit farther than its TV ratings. Over the years several types on the original poker game have been developed, including some games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely resembling twenty-one than old guard poker, in that the players wager against the bank instead of each other. The succeeding hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is little bluffing or different types of deceptiveness. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to pay up prior to the croupier saying "No more wagers." At that moment, both you and the dealer and of course all of the other players attain 5 cards each. After you have seen your hand and the casino's 1st card, you must in turn make a call bet or surrender. The call bet's value is akin to your original bet, indicating that the stakes will have doubled. Giving Up means that your wager goes instantly to the casino. After the wager comes the face off. If the dealer doesn't have ace/king or greater, your wager is given back, plus a figure in accordance with the ante. If the dealer has a hand with ace/king or better, you succeed if your hand beats the dealer's hand. The bank pony's up cash even with your bet and controlled expectations on your call wager. These expectations are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for 2 pairs
  • three to one for 3 of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • 20-1 for a four of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
