Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player in the world by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he could about poker. He would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse comments from others kill his dream of being one of the best poker players on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn't a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He says that he's picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
