Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender on the planet by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn't allow the negative feedback from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

He started competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning period and winning wasn't a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He says that he's picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
