Online poker has become globally acclaimed as of late, with televised competitions and celebrity poker game events. The games universal appeal, though, arcs back quite a bit farther than its TV ratings. Over the years many variants on the original poker game have been created, including a few games that are not in reality poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of the above-mentioned games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely affiliated with chemin de fer than long-standing poker, in that the players wager against the dealer instead of the other players. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is little concealment or different kinds of bamboozlement. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to pay up before the croupier announcing "No further wagers." At that point, both you and the bank and of course every one of the other players receive 5 cards each. After you have looked at your hand and the dealer's 1st card, you need to either make a call wager or bow out. The call wager's amount is akin to your original bet, meaning that the risks will have doubled. Bowing out means that your ante goes instantly to the bank. After the wager comes the face off. If the bank does not have ace/king or better, your bet is given back, with a figure on par with the ante. If the bank has a hand with ace/king or greater, you succeed if your hand is greater than the dealer's hand. The house pays cash equal to your initial bet and set expectations on your call wager. These odds are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for two pairs
  • three to one for 3 of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
