Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is often times seen as one of the most complicated but favored poker games. It's a variation that, even more than regular Omaha poker, aims for play from every level of players. This is the main reason why a once invisible game, has increased in popularity so rapidly.

Omaha hi low starts just like a regular game of Omaha. Four cards are given out to each player. A round of wagering ensues where players can bet, check, or fold. 3 cards are dealt out, this is called the flop. Another sequence of wagering happens. After all the players have either called or dropped out, an additional card is revealed on the turn. a further sequence of wagering happens and then the river card is flipped. The gamblers must attempt to put together the strongest high and low five card hands based on the board and hole cards.

This is the point where some players can get confused. Unlike Hold'em, where the board can make up every player's hand, in Omaha hi low the player has to utilize precisely 3 cards from the board, and precisely two cards from their hand. No more, not a single card less. Contrary to regular Omaha, there are two ways a pot might be won: the "higher hand" or the "lower hand."
